1. Click the "T" icon on the Tools palette.
2. Click on the canvas with your left mouse button and hold the mouse button down as you drag the pointer across the canvas in a downward diagonal direction. Release the mouse button.
3. The Text Effects box should open with "new text" appearing in the window. Highlight this text and replace with the text you want. With the text highlighted, you can also change the font, font size and any other effects shown in the Text Effect window. One thing to note: the size of the text in the Text Effects window will be exactly as it will appear on the canvas when you click the Apply button.
4. Click the Apply button.
5. If your text does not show up in the text box on the canvas, it simply means your text is too big for the current anchor dimensions. Click the bottom right corner anchor with your left mouse button, holding the mouse button down you should continue to drag the anchor in a downward right diagonal direction (to make the text box bigger) until your text appears in the text box.
6. You should now be able to click once on the text box, holding your mouse button down, and move it elsewhere on the canvas.
7. Double click the text box to open the Text Effects window again to modify the text.
If you experience the problem of the anchors moving on their own without you pressing a mouse button, try going to the Layers inspector and double click on the text that is giving you problems. This might cause it to reset the anchors and stop them from moving.
