Q. How do I import my MacFreelance database from an earlier version?
A. Importing a previous MacFreelance database:
1. Select Import Database... from the File menu.
2. Select the location of the folder or virtual drive containing the file from either the dropdown list or list at the left of the MacFreelance import dialog.
3. Navigate to the file using the folder and file list panes within the dialog. (You may have to scroll through several panes to find the file you're looking for.)
4. Select the file.
Note: the database files for previous versions of MacFreelance are located in Macintosh HD | Users | Library | Application Support | MacFreelance. Choose the MacFreelance.irdb file to import the data into MacFreelance.
You may also type a folder's name, or part of it, in the search field in the upper right.
Click Open to open the file into MacFreelance.
Importing the main database allows you import previous MacFreelance databases, with the following constraints:
1. Company information is imported, clients are reset to be accessible from all companies.
2. MacFreelance will not merge imported clients/projects with existing clients with the same name. Clients will be imported as is.
3. The Invoice Book (if desired) must be imported separately via the Import Invoice Book option.

Note: This feature can be used to restore data from a backup if it was saved as an XML file.
Importing the Invoice Book database allows you import previous MacFreelance Invoice Book data, with the following constraint:
1. Invoices in the imported book will be grouped with existing clients, if the client name stored with the invoice matches up.
Q. Does MacFreelance 3 include invoice templates?
A. Yes, invoice templates are pre-loaded into MacFreelance 3. You just need to pick the invoice style you like in Preferences. You can also customize the invoices by placing your logo on them, or generate quotes before actually getting hired by a client. MacFreelance makes it easy to quickly print, PDF or email your quotes and invoices to your clients.
Q. Can I create more than one company that I can bill clients from?
A. Yes, you can create as many different companies as you have; apply different taxes to each company, assign specific clients to a particular company; generate company specific quotes and invoices from templates assigned to each company, and base different charges on the services offered by your different companies. The flexible options are entirely in your hands.
Q. Does MacFreelance 3 include reporting tools?
A. Absolutely! The current reports that are supported in MacFreelance are The following report types are currently supported in MacFreelance: Clients, Open Projects, Billed Projects, Paid Projects, Billed and Paid Projects, Payments, Advances, Taxes Collected, Discounts, Adjustments, Expenses by Projects, Expenses by Clients, and other Custom reports of your making.
